New Mac OS parental controls

Posted on Wednesday 29 August 2007

According to beautiful screenshots leaked by ThinkSecret The next major release of Mac OS X, dubbed “Leopard” apparently has some new parental controls:

The controls allow parents to set weekday and weekend time limits as well as “bedtime” hours during which the computer cannot be accessed.

The above graphic is an excerpt. See the full screenshot yourself.

It think that these sorts of technologies are nice features for parents looking to control computer usage. But somehow, I suspect the crafty whippersnappers will find ways to defeat it. My son is 5, so I’ll know for in a few years.  Regardless, nothing substitutes for keeping the computer in a common area where it can be supervised.

What do you think? Are these new features useful for parents?
