Progress for Quinn

Posted on Tuesday 28 August 2007

I’ve been writing about my new nephew Quinn and his struggles. He was born on Aug. 7, but had a congenital heart defect and required open heart surgery last week. While the surgery was a success, things were looking grim just three days ago when the doctors said it could be weeks before his breathing tube could be removed.

But Quinn has made great progress over the past two days. Yesterday, they removed his breathing tube, and for the first time in his life, he began to breathe on his own!

Today, he had another good day. The doctors remove another IV line, although several remain and he still is being fed through a tube. My brother-in -law has the updates in Quinn’s Journal.
