Molly Ivins, 1944-2007

Posted on Wednesday 31 January 2007

I was sad to hear that columnist Molly Ivins died today. I’ve read her columns in the Progressive Magazine for many years. Just last night I read what is presumably her final column for that publication. It was an account of those who defeated the creationists in Dover, Pa. last year. Ivin’s wrote “the Board of Education had decided the evolution chapter in thier high school biology textbook was ‘laced with Darwinism.’ (They had no complaint about Newtonism in the physics text.)”

The 2008 election is going to be a lot less amusing without Molly around.

Here are two nice tributes by the Texas Observer and Creators Syndicate.
