The 2008 presidential election will likely be the first “open seat” election since 1952. And open seat election is one on which there is no incumbent president or vice president on the ticket. (Cheney has said that he doesn’t want to run, and chances are that he will complete his term.

So no wonder there are so many jokers throwing their hats in the ring. The Wall Street Journal has provided a handy quick guide to keep them all straight.
